My path to event planning has been rather unconventional. In college I held a number of customer services roles including retail sales and bartending. I also DJ'd my way through a semester at my college pub. Upon graduation from St. Lawrence College, I began a full-time career in an academic setting where I successfully negotiated multi-million dollar contracts and assisted in the planning of large academic conferences and events. While working full time I earned a BA in Sociology from Queen's University in 2016. I have been informally planning events for over a decade, and I am certified by the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. In 2018 I formally established Bowtie.
I believe in giving back to my community which is why I have volunteered for more than 10 years combined with the Kingston Police Community Volunteers, Victim Services of Kingston Frontenac, Big Brothers Big Sisters, & the Canadian Cancer Society. Together with the Kingston Habitat for Humanity planning committee, I aided in organizing a single charity event that raised over $18,000.
Well let's see, I like to travel, learn new things and I have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane (w/ a parachute of course), competed in mud runs, parasailed, and I have been thrown from a mechanical bull.
Tearing things apart and putting them back together. No seriously, I enjoy Home Renovation & Home Organization. To find out more about what I do in my "spare time" click the link below.
