S&A’s Spring Wedding | Le Belvedere Wakefield
April Fools
S&A’s spring wedding at Le Belvedere Wakefield was the perfect reminder that the most unforgettable celebrations are the ones filled with personality. Set on April Fool’s Day, their wedding beautifully balanced elevated design with playful, personal details, creating a day that felt romantic, and joyful.
S&A’s celebration actually began earlier in the day in Ottawa at the Lord Elgin, where I had the honour of officially marrying them before everyone made their way to Wakefield for the larger celebration. Starting the day in the city gave the morning an intimate and meaningful beginning before it unfolded into the breathtaking setting that Le Belvedere is so well known for.
By the time guests arrived at Le Belvedere Wakefield, the venue was dressed in a stunning spring palette of sage green, toffee, and dusty rose florals. The colours felt soft and grounded while still bringing warmth and richness to the mountain setting. One of the most striking design moments was the six-foot hanging floral chandelier, suspended above the reception space like a floating garden. It created an incredible focal point and brought movement, texture, and a whimsical sense of drama to the room.
Just before the ceremony, a light snowfall began, adding the kind of magic no one could have planned. Against the spring florals and the dramatic landscape views, the snow created a cinematic moment that made the ceremony feel even more memorable. It was one of those rare weather moments that somehow made everything feel quieter, more romantic, and completely unforgettable.
And then came one of the most fun and personal touches of the day: the bride walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme song. It was unexpected, playful, and absolutely perfect for this couple’s sense of humour. The guests’ smiles said it all, and it instantly set the tone for a celebration that didn’t take itself too seriously while still feeling beautifully intentional.
The thoughtful details continued into dinner, where rentals from Simply Beautiful Decor in Niagara-on-the-Lake helped bring the tablescape to life. Green goblets and linen napkins layered beautifully into the floral palette, adding depth, texture, and a refined sense of colour that tied the entire design together.
One of the sweetest surprises of the evening came from the bride’s brothers, who gifted her a dinosaur wedding cake, a playful nod to her love of dinosaurs and the perfect complement to the Jurassic Park processional. It was the kind of personal touch guests talk about long after the wedding is over.
From the snowfall to the hanging floral installation, the playful music choice, and the unforgettable cake, S&A’s Le Belvedere Wakefield wedding was a celebration full of joy, laughter, and meaningful details. It was proof that the best weddings are the ones that fully embrace the couple at the heart of them.
