J&J’s Sporty Wedding | Evermore Weddings & Events

We first met J & J at a previous wedding where they completely stole the show as emcees, effortlessly entertaining the guests with the same chemistry and teamwork that had defined their relationship from the very beginning. Having met while coaching basketball together, their connection was built through years of shared practices, road trips, competition, and mentorship. So when it came time to plan their own wedding, they knew they wanted a celebration that reflected both the story of how they met and the adventures they had experienced together since.

After touring a variety of wedding venues, they kept coming back to Evermore Weddings and Events. Nestled beside the historic Naismith House, birthplace of basketball inventor Dr. James Naismith, the venue immediately felt personal in a way no ballroom or traditional venue could replicate. There was something incredibly meaningful about celebrating their marriage in a place so closely connected to the sport that brought them together in the first place.

Their wedding design blended subtle basketball references with a sophisticated travel-inspired aesthetic. Rather than leaning too literally into either theme, we worked together to refine the vision into something that felt elevated, intentional, and deeply reflective of them as a couple. Vintage-inspired details, layered textures, collected décor elements, and thoughtful nods to the places they had travelled created an atmosphere that felt warm, worldly, and inviting.

The natural setting at Evermore Weddings and Events perfectly complemented their vision. In side the barn, long harvest tables encouraged connection and conversation, while the countryside backdrop created a relaxed atmosphere that felt authentic to their personalities. Their wedding party fully embraced the destination-like experience, with many staying nearby at the beautifully restored Montey Hotel in Almonte, adding to the sense of a thoughtfully curated wedding weekend rather than just a single day event.

From basketball to travel to the meaningful relationships they had built over the years, every part of the celebration felt connected to who they were. Their wedding was not simply about beautiful details, it was about creating an experience rooted in shared passions, memories, and the journey that brought them to this moment together.
