There is something incredibly special about a daytime wedding by the water, and this intimate celebration at The Drake Devonshire in Wellington was the perfect example of how simple details can create a wedding that feels like a much bigger wedding day without all the fuss.
The day began at the Drake Motor Inn, where the bride and bridesmaids got ready before heading to the waterfront. Before the ceremony, one of the sweetest moments unfolded along the shoreline as the brothers skipped rocks across the water together, soaking in a quiet moment before the celebration officially began.
Set against the lakefront backdrop, the beach ceremony felt effortless and romantic. Bowtied with Love had the honour of officiating the ceremony, creating a heartfelt experience that reflected the couple’s warm and laid-back personalities. Following the ceremony, guests gathered inside the pavilion for an intimate lunch reception filled with thoughtful details and beautiful spring-inspired design.
The colour palette featured soft yellows, peaches, and blues paired with bridesmaids wearing various shades of green, bringing a fresh, organic feel to the entire celebration. The design was understated yet refined, proving that weddings do not need to be elaborate to feel incredibly beautiful.
